COMPUTER ENGINEERING / CURIOSITY IN PROGRESS

FIELD NOTES · 2026

Hello, I'm Ian.

Where code
meets the
physical world.

I’m studying Computer Engineering at Bellevue College. My projects span processor design, Python tools and flight-software simulation.

A simulated rocket, a custom processor and Python tools for a custom instruction set.

FLIGHT SOFTWARE / SIMULATION01

What makes a
rocket listen?

Rocket flight-software simulation.

I built a simplified simulation of a rocket, Earth and gravity, with gimballed thrust and flight software for takeoff and orbit. It became the starting point for my SeaGL talk about what flight computers actually do.

A learning project in simulation, exploring the connection between software decisions and physical motion.

DIGITAL LOGIC / CUSTOM ISA02

A processor,

CG-16-1 · Custom 16-bit CPU design in Digital.

I designed a graphics-capable processor in the Digital logic simulator, building it from the ground up around a custom instruction set.

The repository includes processor and ALU circuits, plus notes on the instruction set and graphics memory. My published Python assembler tooling and a processor emulator are works in progress.

CG-16-1 Assembler · Python tooling in progress.

The published code parses assembly into instruction and argument tokens, checking syntax and 16-bit value limits. Its tests cover valid and invalid syntax and out-of-range values. It’s one part of building tools for my processor’s instruction set.

A TALK ABOUT FLIGHT COMPUTERS

What is a
flight computer,
anyway?

How does a rocket know what to do? I brought my flight-software simulation to SeaGL to explore the job of a flight computer, from understanding the world to changing a trajectory.

03 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE PROJECTSALWAYS A WORK IN PROGRESS

Still learning.
Always building.

I started with Python as a kid. The questions kept getting bigger.

Now I’m studying Computer Engineering at Bellevue College, with a long-term goal of working in aerospace. Custom processors, programming tools and flight simulations are how I explore the space between code and the systems it controls.
